BIMONTHLY NEWSLETTER #2
22nd February, 2025
Hello Ultra Teachers!
As I mentioned in my last Newsletter, the February Reading/Listening Comprehension practice quiz, “The Great Stink of London”, was uploaded. This is the 50th in an ongoing series of Advanced Level quizzes that are now appearing monthly.
It comes complete with 8 comprehension questions and 7 discussion questions; plus, of course, an answer key and downloadable mp3 audio file: https://www.allthings-esl.com/advanced-level-comprehension-quizzes-with-audio.html Within the coming week, there will be an easier version of “The Great Stink of London” available in the form of a printable, multi-page, 60-minute lesson – for Elementary to Intermediate Level learners.
Right on schedule, on the 20th of this month, the 53rd “Spot-the-Differences” information-gap activity was uploaded to the following page: https://www.allthings-esl.com/elementary-to-intermediate-spot-the-differences.html
The topic for this month's Spot-the-Differences Activity is: “Sleep and Dreams”. I had lots of fun making this activity by including a sleeping cat - and contrasting its dream of a tasty fish with the boy’s dream of a tasty fast food meal!
An update on the progress I’m making towards converting all 300+ YouTube videos on my Level 2 Patreon site to ad-free and downloadable format: Since I started the process a couple of weeks ago, I’ve converted about 25% of the videos. So, at this rate, ALL the videos will be converted within the coming 5 or 6 weeks (fingers crossed).
Each of the converted videos comes with 2 simple instructions on how to download them onto your computer:
(1) First, play the video for a couple of seconds, and then pause it.
(2) Then, left click on the download icon in the bottom right corner of the video.
You can save them onto your computer and show them offline (with a projector) to your students in class … or email the videos to your students for homework.
And don’t forget the extra 2 months of free website passwords for any existing and new Level 2 members upon the completion of 12 months of membership (it's NOT necessary to quit your membership at the 12-month mark to claim this benefit – if you decide to end your membership after 16 months, for example, you will still receive the two extra free passwords).
Finally, before the next newsletter comes out, you should see a new section added to www.allthings-esl.com. In this new section (visible as a clickable menu tab on the left side of the site page), I will include all the newsletters as they come out so that you never miss a thing!
